Four Products to Help Baby Ditch the Bottle
If you’re willing to leave your baby’s bottle in 2009, here are some good cups to transition her to safely, successfully sipping in 2010.
Most parents are familiar with the Soothie brand because many hospitals give out their unique pacifiers at birth. They are so popular, the company has expanded to include bottles and sippy cups that feature a similar shape and feel of the pacifier. This Soothie Tranisition Cup ($7.56) includes both a Soothie shaped nipple and a silicone spout to make transition easy, and the handles are removable, which allows the child to choose his grip.
The Thermos brand has introduced the Foogo Cup ($16.50) which provides superior insulation technology, enabling this sippy cup to keep liquids cold for up to six hours. In addition to being a great insulator, this cup is tough—there is no chance it will crack or break—which is good since the price may prevent you from having more than one or two.
If you’ve ever watched your child try to throw his head back to get a drop of water out of his cup, you can immediately see why this Tilty Cup ($9.99 for two) is appealing. It requires less head tilting to receive liquid, and because it doesn’t have a valve, the child drinks rather than sucks on the spout, which is recommended by dentists. This one is particularly useful in the stroller or car seat where there is less room to move.
Thinkbaby has a conversion kit available to transform their popular BPA-free baby bottles into sippy cups. This is great if you’re already using their bottles, but even if you’re not, purchasing the trainer cup on its own ($8.99) is still a great choice. They’re safe, easy to clean, and resemble the bottle for a seamless transition to drinking from a cup.
